The mission of the Centre d'art et essai de la Cinémathèque québécoise (CAECQ) is to primary program Quebec-made documentaries and independent fiction, as well as international documentaries, animated and foreign films, while encouraging opportunities for meetings between the public and the artists. Its programming is presented in conjunction with the Cinémathèque québécoise’s under the label New releases.

Our homes have turned into commodities. This pursuit of profits is leaving too many of us without proper housing. Simply increasing the supply isn't sufficient if the new units fall victim to speculation. This documentary highlights a crucial solution: decommodification.
Mathieu Vachon
Mathieu Vachon is a director and screenwriter. With a degree in political science, he focuses on documentary projects that address significant societal issues, challenge taboos, and offer alternative perspectives on the world: Rencontres particulières, En marge du monde, Être famille d’accueil. Over the years, he has contributed to major documentary series such as 39-45 En sol canadien, Chacun son île, and The Life-Sized City, which have been broadcast in over forty countries. Recently, he has tackled two critical issues that demand our attention: the climate crisis with the series Climat d’urgence and the housing crisis with the documentary Le dernier flip : démarchandiser l’immobilier, inviting us to collectively reconsider our relationship with property.
