The mission of the Centre d'art et essai de la Cinémathèque québécoise (CAECQ) is to primary program Quebec-made documentaries and independent fiction, as well as international documentaries, animated and foreign films, while encouraging opportunities for meetings between the public and the artists. Its programming is presented in conjunction with the Cinémathèque québécoise’s under the label New releases.

Pierre Földes
A complete artist, Pierre Földes is a director, composer and painter. Born in the United States, of a Hungarian father and British mother, Pierre Földes is the son of a pioneer in computer animation, Peter Földes, who won awards at Cannes and the Oscars. He grew up in Paris, where he studied piano and composition. He started his career as a composer in New York for cinema and advertising before returning to Europe. Passionate about drawing and animation, he wrote and directed several short films himself, adapting a manufacturing pipeline to his film ideas. He thus developed a personal and singular technique and style.
