Joris Ivens
Joris Ivens was a Dutch filmmaker. His works portray industrial production processes, natural phenomena, and social conflicts, and are marked by his sympathy for communism. Ivens is considered one of the greatest documentary filmmakers of the 20th century.
Marceline Loridan-Ivens
Marcceline Loridan-Ivens was a French writer, director, and producer. As a Holocaust survivor, she was deported alongside Simone Veil. She created several films on decolonization, focusing on Algeria and Vietnam. She also directed the feature film La petite prairie aux bouleaux, which was based on her deportation experience, and collaborated with her husband, Joris Ivens, on a series of films about Maoist China.
