Black Box
Once a month, the Goethe-Institut collaborates with the Cinémathèque québécoise to present a significant work of contemporary German cinema: fiction films, documentaries, bold and entertaining productions by established and emerging filmmakers.
The exits of a Berlin courtyard are blocked by the police due to an unclear event. Without information, uncertainties fuel the fear of the residents. Who knows what and who is exploiting it? Distrust triggers prejudice and another question emerges.... Is the real danger coming from inside or outside?
Aslı Özge
Aslı Özge is a Turkish director, screenwriter and producer. She graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Cinema and Television. During her time as a student, her short film Capital C was shown at many festivals and won prizes. After graduation, she settled in Berlin where she studied philosophy. In 2009, after a TV film and a documentary, she wrote and directed her third feature film, Men on the Bridge. Since then, has been working both in Turkey and Germany, directing four other films, including her two most recent ones: Black Box (2023) and Faruk (2024).
