Christophe Gans
Christophe Gans is a French filmmaker, producer, screenwriter, and film critic. He is known for the meticulous care he takes with his films’ aesthetics and style, drawing on influences as varied as European, American, and Asian cinema, as well as the world of comic books. With the help of producer Samuel Hadida, he worked on several screenplays before directing the segment The Drowned for the 1993 anthology film Necronomicon, inspired by the works of H. P. Lovecraft. In 1995, he adapted the cult manga Crying Freeman, before directing Brotherhood of the Wolf, driven by his lifelong fascination with swashbuckler films and Baroque imagery. This was followed by an adaptation of the Silent Hill video game (2006), for which he released a sequel this year, and Beauty and the Beast (2014), starring Vincent Cassel and Léa Seydoux.
