The mission of the Centre d'art et essai de la Cinémathèque québécoise (CAECQ) is to primary program Quebec-made documentaries and independent fiction, as well as international documentaries, animated and foreign films, while encouraging opportunities for meetings between the public and the artists. Its programming is presented in conjunction with the Cinémathèque québécoise’s under the label New releases.
The screenings will be followed by a discussion with the filmmakers and the young protagonists featured in the film.
Bulles gives a voice to autistic teenagers who invite us into their imaginary worlds. Through their creations, the film offers an illuminating look at difference and reveals rich universes far removed from the clichés associated with the diagnosis. Bulles explores identity, neurodiversity, and the creative power of young people reclaiming their voices.
Mélissa Lefebvre
Mélissa Lefebvre is a director and producer. For the past 17 years, she has taught drama in high school and developed artistic, educational and film projects that consistently place students at the heart of her creative process. A visionary and deeply committed artist, she creates socially impactful works, where art serves as a catalyst for change, self-expression, and the assertion of identity. Her work, centered on diversity, inclusion, and highlighting marginalized voices, has earned recognition both in Quebec and internationally, most notably for her award-winning film Bagages. Through each of her projects, she champions an approach where creation becomes an act of advocacy: giving a voice to those who are too often overlooked and shifting the way they are perceived.

Paul Tom
Paul Tom is a director and producer. For the past 15 years, he has drawn on the intimate and the personal experiences to tell touching, authentic stories with sensitivity. His films give a voice to those who are not always heard, creating spaces for dialogue and embracing the "other." A jack-of-all-trades, he also works as an editor and instructor on cultural mediation projects. Born to Cambodian parents in a refugee camp in Thailand, his work focuses on the construction of identity, family relationships, and the intimate, fragile, and precious nature of the human experience. His films, including Bagages and Seuls, have been selected for some forty festivals around the world and have won a dozen awards. He is also the author of the children’s book Seuls, published by La courte échelle.
