Calle Málaga
The mission of the Centre d'art et essai de la Cinémathèque québécoise (CAECQ) is to primary program Quebec-made documentaries and independent fiction, as well as international documentaries, animated and foreign films, while encouraging opportunities for meetings between the public and the artists. Its programming is presented in conjunction with the Cinémathèque québécoise’s under the label New releases.

Maria Angeles, a 79-year-old Spanish woman, lives alone in Tangier, Morocco, and enjoys her daily routine. However, her life is turned upside down when her daughter arrives from Madrid to sell the apartment in which she has always lived. Determined to stay, she does everything she can to get her home and her belongings back and, unexpectedly, rediscovers love and sensuality.

Maryam Touzani
Maryam Touzani is a Moroccan actress, screenwriter, and filmmaker. She was born in 1980 in Tangier, where she grew up. She studied in London, and began her career as a journalist with a focus on cinema. She then worked as a screenwriter while directing short and documentary films. She directed her first feature film, Adam, in 2019. The film was selected for the Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard section, winning over twenty awards internationally. She became the first Moroccan woman to be selected in the race for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film in 2020. Touzani's film The Blue Caftan was also selected in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival in 2022, where it won the FIPRESCI Prize. Her latest film, Calle Málaga, notably won the Audience Award at the 2025 Venice International Film Festival.
