Chronicle of a Crisis
The mission of the Centre d'art et essai de la Cinémathèque québécoise (CAECQ) is to primary program Quebec-made documentaries and independent fiction, as well as international documentaries, animated and foreign films, while encouraging opportunities for meetings between the public and the artists. Its programming is presented in conjunction with the Cinémathèque québécoise’s under the label New releases.

Sarah and Simon, a Montreal couple in their early thirties, are facing the repossession of their apartment in the midst of an unprecedented housing crisis in Quebec. Together, they document their daily lives through this journey filled with uncertainties, disappointments, and anxiety, but also acts of resistance and dignity. The result is a portrait of rare intimacy, bearing witness to the growing economic precarity that is affecting millennials and the generations to come.

Simon Larochelle
Simon Larochelle is a filmmaker living and working in Montreal. He holds a bachelor's degree in political communication from UQAM and is a graduate of Concordia University's Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. Thanks to his bi-disciplinary background, he developped a strong interest in documentaries. In his work, he takes a frank, critical look at pressing societal issues. He favors a raw approach, close to his subjects, and a "guerrilla" shooting method. Simon also lends his expertise to social causes and organizations, working as a videographer on various projects.
