Quentin Dupieux
Quentin Dupieux is a self-taught French filmmaker and musician. He made his first short films as a teenager, then sold one of them, Du côté de chez Cinane (1995), to Canal+. Since the channel was concerned about the rights to a song used in the film, he decided to replace it by "playing with rap instrumentals on a synthesizer". Thus was born his passion for electronic music, where he became known under the pseudonym Mr. Oizo. After working on music videos, commercials, short and medium-length films, he directed his first feature, Steak, in 2007. His second feature, Rubber (2010), about a serial killer tire, propelled his career into cinema. The film was selected for Critics' Week at the Cannes Film Festival. He is also known for the films Deerskin (2019), Smoking Causes Coughing (2022) and Yannick (2023).
