Arturo Ripstein y Rosen (born December 13, 1943) is a Mexican film director and screenwriter. Divine (Arturo Ripstein)

Divine is a long and beautiful delirium that combines the bric-a-brac peplum, the most popular Catholic imagery and the structuralist reflection on the various powers of the false. All of this at once, in a frenzy of meaning that leaves you breathless and a baroque debauchery that is akin to a tableau vivant and a frenetic piling up of images with a twisted sanctity.
