Synopsis

For a very special celebration, a host-mother has gathered mothers and their perfect children for a great banquet. Orchestrated by the host-mother, the banquet is suddenly disrupted by strange disturbances. What is hiding behind the scenes of this perfect ideal world? Mothers & Monsters is a surrealist satire about modern-day maternity and the ideal of the family at a time where capitalism has reached its apex.

Synopsis

There’s Abdel, whose quiet life is turned upside down by the arrival of his extrovert cousin, whom he takes in for the summer; Fatima, who longs for a more stable existence and is trying to get away from her bad associations; Toussaint, who, on a fishing trip, finds a bottle washed up with a message inside. There’s also Naïma, Maya, Ayoub and the others, a pastel castle lining the freeway, electric cicadas, a monolith and very powerful rays. A blend of fiction and documentary, Gamma Rays is a dramatic comedy filmed with the youth from the St-Michel district of Montreal.
