The mission of the Centre d'art et essai de la Cinémathèque québécoise (CAECQ) is to primary program Quebec-made documentaries and independent fiction, as well as international documentaries, animated and foreign films, while encouraging opportunities for meetings between the public and the artists. Its programming is presented in conjunction with the Cinémathèque québécoise’s under the label New releases.

Hlynur Pálmason
Hlynur Pálmason is an Icelandic director.He studied filmmaking at the National Film School of Denmark from 2009 to 2013.His film Winter Brothers received four awards at the Locarno Film Festival in 2017. So White a Day is presented in competition at the 58th Critics' Week during the 2019 Cannes International Film Festival. At the Edda Awards, the film receives six awards, including Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Cinematography and Best Director for Hlynur Pálmason.
