En collaboration avec Figura (UQAM), nous vous proposons pour quelques semaines des films représentant le célèbre Frankenstein, imaginé par l’écrivaine britannique Mary Shelley. Plutôt «figure» que simple personnage, il se décline en de nombreux films, en des variations parfois fantastiques et toujours troublantes.
The film is whimsically inspired by the stay at Villa Diodati on Lake Geneva in the summer of 1816 by Lord Byron, Percy Shelley, Mary Shelley, Claire Clairmont and Gaetano Polidori, which gave birth to two gothic stories, The Vampire and, above all, Frankenstein.

Henry Kenneth Alfred Russell (3 July 1927 – 27 November 2011) was a British film director, known for his pioneering work in television and film and for his flamboyant and controversial style. His films in the main were liberal adaptations of existing texts, or biographies, notably of composers of the Romantic era. Russell began directing for the BBC, where he made creative adaptations of composers' lives which were unusual for the time. He also directed many feature films independently and for studios. Shelley (Julian Sands) accompagné de Mary (Nathasha Richardson) et de la belle soeur de celle-ci Claire (Myriam Cyr) rejoignent Lord Byron (Gabriel Byrne) et le Dr Polidari (Timothy Spall) dans la villa Diodati à Cologny, un village dominant le lac Léman. Le quatuor se met dans l’idée d’écrire des histoires d’horreur mais suite à une invocation « pour pénétrer la nuit noire », ils ont l’impression qu’un spectre veut leur mort et ils semblent sombrer tous un à un dans la folie...
