Few people know that before its founding and the arrival of its first inhabitants in 1642, Montreal was a social project dreamed up, imagined and designed by a handful of people who were part of a secret society. Who was behind this audacious, perilous and mysterious project? What were their motivations? Their dream? The keys to understanding this story are found in a 17th century manuscript that is obviously the hidden autobiography of Jeanne Mance. With an original and personal look, the filmmaker revisits this story where the past resonates with an ever-present desire to create a world closer to humanist values.
