Le film d'Ariane
In its latest issue, the film magazine 24 images dedicates a special feature to the theme of our symposium, Film Archives Beget Films, to be held on April 28-29. In conjunction with this editorial coverage, and just ahead of the symposium, we are presenting a program entirely focused on this theme; the re-use of archival film footage in films. While not aiming to be exhaustive, the program highlights the diversity of practices from an aesthetic and historical perspective.

At the age of 75, Ariane traces the thread of her life. Through her story, and thanks to the meticulous, subtle editing of thousands of pieces of film shot by amateurs between 1925 and 1980, this film chronicles the history of Quebec women, from the era of land clearing to modern feminism.
Josée Beaudet
Josée Beaudet is a Quebec editor, resercher, director, and producer. For several years, she directed the Regards de femme program at the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), a program that enabled women filmmakers to address issues of concern to them.
