After being injured the previous year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Porsche driver Michael Delaney is back for the 1970 race. He falls in love with the widow of driver Belgetti, who died in that accident. Things are not going to be easy, as Michael faces off against his most feared rival, German driver Eric Stahler of the Ferrari team.

Lee H. Katzin was an American film director. Starting in 1969, he directed several theatrical films, starting with Heaven with a Gun and the cult classic What Ever Happened to Aunt Alice? In 1971, he directed the film Le Mans, starring Steve McQueen. He was primarily known as a prolific episodic television director, and worked on series such as MacGyver, Police Story, The Young Riders, and Mission: Impossible.
