Memory of Princess Mumbi
The mission of the Centre d'art et essai de la Cinémathèque québécoise (CAECQ) is to primary program Quebec-made documentaries and independent fiction, as well as international documentaries, animated and foreign films, while encouraging opportunities for meetings between the public and the artists. Its programming is presented in conjunction with the Cinémathèque québécoise’s under the label New releases.

In 2093, Kuve, a young filmmaker, travels to the remote kingdom of Umata to document life after a war that outlawed modern technology. As he begins working with Mumbi, a local actress and future princess, the film begins to slip away from its subject, toward a fleeting moment in which everything feels timeless and peaceful, even as their paths pull them in opposite directions.

Damien Hauser
Damien Hauser is a Swiss filmmaker, screenwriter, and director of Kenyan descent who was born in Zurich. He began producing films at the age of seven, driven by his passion for fictional storytelling. Bridging African and European perspectives, his work often explores themes of identity, memory, and cultural duality. He studied film at SAE from 2016 to 2020, and worked for the commercial production company Filme von Draussen. He has directed several short films, music videos, plays, and commercials. His films have been screened at major festivals, including Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, Rotterdam International Film Festival, and BFI London Film Festival.
