Parallel Tales
The mission of the Centre d'art et essai de la Cinémathèque québécoise (CAECQ) is to primary program Quebec-made documentaries and independent fiction, as well as international documentaries, animated and foreign films, while encouraging opportunities for meetings between the public and the artists. Its programming is presented in conjunction with the Cinémathèque québécoise’s under the label New releases.

In search of inspiration for her new novel, Sylvie spies on her neighbors across the street. When she hires young Adam to help her with her daily routine, she has no idea that he will turn her life and her work upside down, until the fiction she had imagined surpasses the reality of them all.

Asghar Farhadi
Asghar Farhadi is an Iranian film director and screenwriter, considered one of the most prominent filmmakers of Iranian and world cinema cinema in the 21st century. His films have gained recognition for their focus on the human condition, their intimate portrayals, and the complex, sometimes conflicting family stories they tell, for which he has received numerous awards. He made his directorial debut with Dancing in the Dust (2003), followed by The Beautiful City (2004) and Fireworks Wednesday (2006). He was acclaimed for his film About Elly (2009), earning the Silver Bear for Best Director at the Berlin International Film Festival. He also became one of the few directors to win the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film twice, for the family drama A Separation (2011) and the moral drama The Salesman (2016), the latter of which also received the Cannes Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award.
