Sound of Falling
The mission of the Centre d'art et essai de la Cinémathèque québécoise (CAECQ) is to primary program Quebec-made documentaries and independent fiction, as well as international documentaries, animated and foreign films, while encouraging opportunities for meetings between the public and the artists. Its programming is presented in conjunction with the Cinémathèque québécoise’s under the label New releases.

Four adolescent girls (Alma, Erika, Angelika, Lenka) each spend their youth in the same farmhouse over the last century. Though separated by decades, resonances between their lives emerge: their desires and distress, secrets and truths, encounters with another’s gaze and defiant gaze in return.

Mascha Schilinski
Mascha Schilinski is a German film director and screenwriter. She was born in to a German filmmaker mother, Claudia Schilinski, and a French construction worker father. As a child, she accompanied her mother to film shoots and movie sets. During her school year, she was a child actor. She began her career as a casting director and freelance writer. Her first feature film, Dark Blue Girl (2017), premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival. Her second feature film, Sound of Falling (2025), was screened in competition at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Jury Prize.
