Sunday Too Far Away
From the plains of Montana to the vast expanses of Ethiopia, from the hills of Provence to the mountains of Kurdistan, from the depths of Iceland to the Australian Outback… This program takes us on a journey across continents, guided by a common thread: sheep. These animals become our entry point into communities and traditions, revealing both social and intimate upheavals, and crystallizing the relationships between human or between species.
Hired by an old friend, hard-working Foley returns to sheep shearing after trying another job. He finds a worthy rival who is just as efficient as he is, and the competition is fierce. In a tense working environment, he also becomes a spokesman for the other workers. In a style reminiscent of a documentary, Sunday Too Far Away shows with humanity a difficult and little-known workplace.
Ken Hannam
Ken Hannam was an Australian film and television director who also worked in British television drama. His first feature Sunday Too Far Away (1975) marked the emergence of an internationally recognised Australian film industry.
