Winner of the Palme d'or, 1958 Cannes Film Festival
In 1941, two Muscovites deeply in love, Veronika and Boris, are parted by war. When Germany invades Russia, Boris takes up arms and heads to the front. His cousin Mark, who avoids military service, covets Veronika, who longs to join Boris, from whom she hears nothing. A magnificent lyrical masterpiece whose stunning cinematography made cinema history.
