The Fruitless Tree
The recurrent cycle Noir.e.s à la caméra allows us to discover works directed or produced by African or Afrodescendant filmmakers throughout the history of cinema.
Married and childless, Aïcha finds herself in an "unusual" situation in her country. But in Niger, as everywhere in the world, there are problems of infertility. Based on her personal story, addressing her questions to her mother who died in childbirth, the director delicately explores the hidden sufferings of women and breaks the taboos. The viewer follows Aïcha in Niger, a woman among mothers.
