Synopsis

Struggling to survive in post-WWI Copenhagen, a newly unemployed and pregnant young woman is taken in by a charismatic elder to help run an underground adoption agency. The two form an unexpected bond, until a sudden discovery changes everything.

Magnus von Horn

Magnus von Horn is a Swedish-Polish film director and screenwriter. He graduated from the National Film School in Łódź in 2013. A few months after he arrived in Poland he was brutally robbed, which resulted in him becoming interested in violent people. A young Polish criminal was the subject of his first documentary short film. He was nominated for the Guldbagge Award for Best Short Film for Without Snow (2011). His debut feature, The Here After, premiered in the Directors' Fortnight of the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, while his sophomore film, Sweat, was selected in 2020, but the festival was cancelled due to COVID. His third feature, The Girl with the Needle, premiered at in the 2024 Cannes Film Festival competition for the Palme d'or.
