Alejandro Jodorowsky
Born in 1929 in Chile, Alejandro Jodorowsky moved to France in 1953, where he worked in theater and began making short films. In 1962, he co-founded the "Panic Movement" with Fernando Arrabal and Roland Topor, an art movement rooted in surrealism. Shifting his focus entirely to film, he directed the fantasy Fando y Lis (1968) and the psychedelic western El Topo (1970). Encouraged by John Lennon, he created The Holy Mountain (1973), a visually groundbreaking work. He then embarked on an ambitious adaptation of Dune, though the project was never completed. Jodorowsky gained renewed critical acclaim with Santa Sangre (1989) and, after a long break from cinema, returned with autobiographical projects such as The Dance of Reality (2013) and Endless Poetry (2016). With a career spanning over 60 years, Jodorowsky remains a visionary and boundary-pushing artist.
