Catherine Hardwicke
Catherine Hardwicke is an American film director, production designer, and screenwriter. A graduate in architecture from the University of Texas at Austin, she went on to study film and television at UCLA, where she began her career in Hollywood as a production designer. She created the sets for around twenty films, including Tombstone (1993), Three Kings (1999), and Vanilla Sky (2001). In 2003, she directed and co-wrote her first film, Thirteen, in collaboration with her then-stepdaughter, Nikki Reed. The film earned her the Directing Award at Sundance. In 2008, she directed the first installment of the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s bestseller Twilight, which became a global phenomenon.
