In this selection of 4 films for the Cinémathèque and for Tënk, we witness the beginnings of the anti-globalization movement and the preparations for a civil disobedience action in Montreal, we meet the last survivors of the discriminatory Chinese Head Tax and Exclusion Act, we get to know Filipino migrant families shattered by the need to go into exile to work. About Multi-Monde

Multi-Monde has carved out a place for itself as a Quebec-based production company whose documentaries reflect the social movements and forces of their time. In its 30 years of existence, Multi-Monde has always favored a cinema that accompanies mobilized groups, at the heart of their struggles, with their actors and actresses. Founded in 1991, Multi-Monde was born from the desire to raise the veil on little-known social issues, and from the desire to give an ear to little-heard groups that inspire us.

Driven by the energies of Malcolm Guy, Marie Boti and Lucie Pageau, the company has produced more than 30 films - mostly documentaries - presented on television and in festivals, in Canada and around the world. In addition to production, Multi-Monde has also proved to be a training ground for a number of emerging directors.

Domestic workers' rights, indigenous struggles, Canadian mining, migrant rights, are all themes at the heart of Multi-World's films, which continue to circulate through community and university networks over the years. These works testify to the essential role of documentary in the evolution of our collective consciousness of the world, and participate in concrete social changes.
