From Vault to Screen: a film's journey
Did you know the Cinémathèque québécoise is the only commercial cinema in Montreal where you can watch 35mm films? But how does a film like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon by Ang Lee make its way from our vaults to you?
It all starts in our reserves, where over 40,000 films and videos are carefully preserved.
Once our programming team has selected a film, it follows a rigorous process: preparation of the copy, thorough technical verifications, and finally, screening in our theatres. Each step is carefully carried out to guarantee an authentic, high-quality cinematic experience.
