From one year to the next, the Cinémathèque québécoise takes the pulse of recent and current French cinema, in partnership with the Institut français, in order to follow the evolution of an increasingly diversified French production.
France, early nineties. As the violence escalades between police and youth in the city projects, hip hop culture spreads as the best mean to express revolt. Two boys, JoeyStarr and Kool Shen, become the voice of a generation and the biggest French rap group ever: Suprême NTM.

Audrey Estrougo
At the age of 26, Audrey Estrougo directed her first film, Regarde moi, which deals with the world of the housing estates, from a female perspective. Although very young and without any cinematographic training, Audrey is choosen to direct a musical comedy Toi, moi, les autres, released in 2011. In 2013, she directed without any financing, Une histoire banale which deals with the aftermath of a rape. La Taularde, a closed-door film about women in prison, starring Sophie Marceau, written after two years of immersion in a prison, was released on September 14, 2016. In parallel, Audrey shot her first TV series for Arte with Romane Bohringer, Héroïnes, a social comedy in three episodes broadcast in February 2017. In 2019 she shoots her fifth feature film A la folie which will be released in theaters on April 6, 2022 . In the summer of 2020, she begins shooting Suprêmes, a biographical film about the early days of the French rap group Suprême NTM. She co-wrote the script with Marcia Romano. The film is selected at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival in the official selection out of competition.
