The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the editors Alexandre Chartrand and Guillaume Fortin, moderated by Anouk Deschênes.
In 2017, forty years after the end of the Franco dictatorship, all spheres of Catalan society are mobilizing for the organization of a referendum on self-determination, despite the fact that it has been judged illegal by the Constitutional Court of Spain. Alexandre Chartrand and his small team set out to capture this piece of history that is being written before their eyes.

Alexandre Chartrand
Alexandre Chartrand was introduced to editing during his studies in film at the University of Montreal. He worked on all types of productions, but specialized in documentary editing and collaborated with several directors, including Danic Champoux, Carl Leblanc and Marie-Claude Fournier. In 2012, the feature film Godin, to which he lends his talent, won a Gémeaux for editing. Chartrand then moved on to direct his first feature-length documentaries with Le Peuple interdit (2016) and Avec un sourire, la révolution! (2018).

Guillaume Fortin
Guillaume Fortin is a director, screenwriter and editor. A graduate in cinema from UQAM, his short films have been presented in more than fifty festivals around the world. L'étranger (2006) won the award for best Quebec short film at the Fantasia festival. Dolorès (2010) was selected for international competition at the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand festival. Never far from editing, he has collaborated on many projects (documentaries, fiction, magazine, animation, etc.) and is currently working on Sarah Fortin's first feature film, Nouveau-Québec.
