Southern Spain, in the 1920s. Carmen is a beautiful young girl whose childhood was haunted by a bitter stepmother. Fleeing a past she no longer remembers, Carmen has an unusual encounter with a traveling troupe of midget bullfighters, who adopt her and give her the nickname “Blancanieves”. This is the beginning of an adventure that will guide Carmen (Blancanieves) towards herself, towards her past, and above all towards a destiny like no other...
Pablo Berger
Pablo Berger is a Spanish screenwriter, director, and producer. In 1988, he directed his first short film, Mamá, which won several awards. With the financial winnings from a grant, he pursued a master’s degree in film at New York University, where he directed the short film Truth and Beauty, earning an Emmy Award nomination. After completing his Ph.D., Berger taught management at the New York Film Academy. Thereafter, he began a parallel career as a publicist and music producer, which culminated in 2003 with his first feature film Torremolinos 73. The film achieved significant success at international festivals. His second film, Blancanieves, a black-and-white silent film, won 10 Goya Awards in 2013, including Best Film. In 2017, he released Abracadabra, followed in 2023 by his first animated feature, Robot Dreams, in 2023. Based on the graphic novel by American author Sara Varon, the film won the Contrechamp Grand Prix at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
