Author Muriel Pic has created several films inspired by Georges Franju's Blood of the Beasts, an unparalleled work shot in the Vaugirard slaughterhouses. During her visit to Montreal, we will present two of her films, Franju's masterpiece as well as Sylvain L’Espérance's flamboyant Animal macula.
Followed by a conversation with Muriel Pic, moderated by Stéphane Lépine

This film is linked to the documentary novel En regardant le sang des bêtes (2017), itself written using Georges Franju's documentary Le sang des bêtes (1949). Featuring a French song, Pourquoi j'aime le vin, the film replays Franju's archives not from the viewer's side or the animal's gaze, but from the point of view of the slaughterhouse workers who sang as they performed their terrible task.
