Synopsis

This film is linked to the documentary novel En regardant le sang des bêtes (2017), itself written using Georges Franju's documentary Le sang des bêtes (1949). Featuring a French song, Pourquoi j'aime le vin, the film replays Franju's archives not from the viewer's side or the animal's gaze, but from the point of view of the slaughterhouse workers who sang as they performed their terrible task.

Synopsis

Winter 2018, Amsterdam, constellation of the Dog. I travel seventeen kilometers of archives in search of beasts. Six hundred and eighty-three fragments of silent films, anonymous images collected by the EYE Film Institute under the title Bits & Pieces. But for me, these are the crumbs, from our feast of beasts.
