This recurring program is an opportunity to present films from various eras and origins, thanks to 35mm prints acquired over the years by the Cinémathèque québécoise. This month, Wim Vandekeybus’ Blush, a spellbinding exploration of the unconscious and passion, punctuated by dance numbers and inspired by the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice.
Blush is a contemporary epic inspired by the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. A multifaceted love story, at times heavenly, at times hellish. The wedding is followed by mourning, where the beloved is nothing more than a ghost, and paradise becomes hell. A hell where one must go in search of the lost one, where only trust prevails.
Wim Vandekeybus
Wim Vandekeybus is a Belgian choreographer, director and photographer. He founded his company Ultima Vez in 1986. Together with Jan Fabre, Alain Platel and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, he has been responsible for the Flemish Wave in contemporary dance in the 1980s. He made over thirty international dance and theater productions and almost as many movies and video works.
