Featuring three artists, CerAmony, Cheri Maracle and Samian, whose voices, rhythms, sampling and guitar chords reveal the excitement of today's Aboriginal music scene while exposing the realities and struggles of their communities. At a time when resistance is growing on Aboriginal territories, this work on music, art and politics brings to the forefront the struggles of First Nations that are too often left in the shadows.

Paul M. Rickard

Mushkeg Media President Paul M. Rickard is an Omuskego Cree from Moose Factory in Northern Ontario. For the past ten years he has been a producer, director and cameraman with independent production companies and organizations including Nutaaq Media Inc, Wildheart Productions, Wawatay, CBC North and the National Film Board of Canada. Paul is now branching out into independent production.

Michelle Smith

Michelle Smith is an award-winning filmmaker, media artist and educator, Métis, born and raised in St. James, Manitoba. She is a founding member of the Dawson First Peoples Initiative, the Indigenous Education Council and the Intercollegiate Decolonizing Network, and teaches film and communication at Dawson College. She has directed and produced numerous documentary films and interactive works. She uses a variety of media and participatory strategies to explore issues of Indigenous identity and resurgence, self-determined education, and cross-cultural experience. She is the principal investigator of the First Peoples Post-secondary Storytelling Exchange (fppse.net) and has coordinated the Journeys First Peoples Transition program for four years. A Vanier Scholar, she is currently working on a PhD at McGill on the topic of Indigenous educational sovereignty.
