Emir Kusturica
Emir Kusturica is a Bosnian-born Serbian film director, screenwriter, actor, producer and musician. He is one of the most acclaimed European filmmakers since the mid-1980s, best known for his surreal yet naturalistic films that express deep empathy for people on the margins of society. He was selected at the Cannes Film Festival five times and won the Palme d'or twice, for When Father Was Away on Business (1985) and Underground (1995), as well as the Best Director Award for Time of the Gypsies (1988). Kusturica has won a Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival for Arizona Dream (1993), and two Silver Lions at the Venice Film Festival for Do You Remember Dolly Bell? (1981) and Black Cat, White Cat (1998).
