Don't Forget the Oatmeal
The mission of the Centre d'art et essai de la Cinémathèque québécoise (CAECQ) is to primary program Quebec-made documentaries and independent fiction, as well as international documentaries, animated and foreign films, while encouraging opportunities for meetings between the public and the artists. Its programming is presented in conjunction with the Cinémathèque québécoise’s under the label New releases.
The July 17 screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker, Olivier Godin
The Barbarian believes he has only a few erections left before death. Cursed to a life in a thrift shop and haunted by family tragedy, he sets his sights on Marie, an alcoholic special-ed teacher. If he must go, he figures, he might as well go out in good company.

Olivier Godin
Olivier Godin has made numerous films. In 2014, the Cinémathèque québécoise dedicated a retrospective to his work. His cinema blends tones, genres, and contradictions. He always works with modest means, in a resolutely artisanal spirit, which doesn't stop his films from featuring battles, swords, knives, and bawdy jokes. In short: adventure! His latest film, Don't Forget the Oatmeal (Oublie pas le gruau, 2026), is a children's movie for adults, featuring nasal pyramids ravaged by cocaine, kung fu, and far too many drawings of erect penises. Miraculously, he occasionally receives awards and grants.
