Synopsis

Overqualified and undervalued, Rita is a lawyer at a large firm that is more interested in getting criminals off the hook than bringing them to justice. One day, she is given an unexpected way out, when cartel leader Manitas hires her to help him withdraw from his business and realize a plan he has been secretly preparing for years: to become the woman he has always dreamt of being.

Awards

Jacques Audiard

Jacques Audiard is a French director, screenwriter, and film editor. He is the son of French filmmaker and screenwriter Michel Audiard. He has been awarded multiple César Awards, including three for Best Director — in 2006 for The Beat That My Heart Skipped, in 2010 for A Prophet, and in 2019 for The Sisters Brothers. He has also won a number of prestigious awards, such as the Palme d'or at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival for Dheepan and the Jury Prize at the 2024 edition for Emilia Pérez. Audiard's films are known for their stylized and often violent direction, combining genre cinema with art-house sensibilities. His works frequently revolve around sophisticated narratives and elusive, ambivalent characters, navigating dark, tense worlds that often blur the line between reality and the surreal.
