An orphan raised in a convent, Henri works to maintain the convent's lights. When a real estate promoter buys the building, Henri must learn to live in society. A series of events leads him to Singh, the lamp genius. That's how he finds a new job as a relamping technician. When he falls in love with a pretty cashier from a porno theater — who has a disease that forces her to live in the dark — he needs the help of those around him to achieve his goals. Known for the whimsical tone of his short films (L'annulaire (gauche); Neuf; Un homme de main), Martin Talbot succeeds in preserving the characteristics of his universe in this charmingly naive fable carried by performances from Victor Andrés Trelles Turgeon and de Sophie Desmarais.
Martin Talbot
Martin Talbot is a filmmaker of many talents. From his early days in documentaries, he made a name for himself with his ability to skillfully blend humor, sensitivity, and refined visuals. Among other projects, he directed Montréal en douze lieux and Le Québec en douze lieux in the late 2000s. He also distinguished himself in fiction with Ding et Dong: la vraie histoire (2005), a mockumentary that earned him a Gémeau award for Best Comedy Special. At the same time, he directed several short films, exploring the fable genre. L'annulaire (gauche) (2005), Neuf (2007), and Un homme de main (2008) garnered him several awards and collectively form a trilogy titled Il était 3 fois 1 doigt. He then made his mark in television with the successful series Les Parent (2010-2012), before continuing his exploration of whimsical and magical worlds with Henri Henri (2014), his sole feature film to date.
