In Scotland 1874, Jack is born on the coldest day ever. Because of the extreme cold, his heart stops beating. The responsible midwife in Edinburgh finds a way to save him by replacing his heart with a clock. So he lives and remains under the midwife’s protective care. But he must not get angry or excited because that endangers his life by causing his clock to stop working. Worse than that, when he grows up, he has to face the fact he cannot fall in love because that too could stop his delicate heart.

Stéphane Berla
Stephane Berla has developed very early a sense of graphic experimentation by mixing animation with live shooting, which allowed him to make his first films independently. After film school, Stephane began his career as a graphic designer and artistic director while continuing to make his short films, which led him to direct his firsts commercials and music videos for french bands with such strong universes as Matthieu Chedid, Dionysos, Matmatah or Gaétan Roussel. Berla is the co-director of Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart (2013), his first animated feature film, with Mathias Malzieu.

Mathias Malzieu
Mathias Malzieu is a French musician, singer, writer and film director. He is the lead singer of the French rock band Dionysos. In addition to his band's many records and concerts, he has written several books, including The Boy with the Cuckoo-Clock Heart in 2007. Elements of the story are featured on the musical album of the same name. The novel also inspired an animated film, Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart (2013), which he co-directed with Stéphane Berla. As on the album, Mathias lends his voice to Jack, the main character.
