The mission of the Centre d'art et essai de la Cinémathèque québécoise (CAECQ) is to primary program Quebec-made documentaries and independent fiction, as well as international documentaries, animated and foreign films, while encouraging opportunities for meetings between the public and the artists. Its programming is presented in conjunction with the Cinémathèque québécoise’s under the label New releases.
When he was a kid, Menahem Lang was known for his kindness, his commitment to Talmud school and especially his golden voice, which made him a renowned performer of liturgical chants. But he was hiding a secret: for years, he was raped by members of the community that worshipped him. After 20 years, Menahem returns to the scene of the crime. It is also a return to the places he loved, a path of initiation sprinkled with incredible encounters, recovered rituals… a reconciliation.

A multidisciplinary artist, alternating between documentary and fiction, feature films and shorts, video art and narrative art, Yolande Zauberman has invented her own way of expression through films that have always provoked lively debate, sometimes controversy. Her cinema investigates the shadowy areas, breaks the taboos, liberates speech and forces people to listen. He stages couples of "enemies", attacks through love stories the places of power, whether religious or economic; he confronts us with realities kept under silence; and makes desirable the lonely, the marginalized, the sacrificed.
