My Thoughts Are Silent
In collaboration with Ukrainian-Canadian programmers Alina Senchenko and Iryna Borzilova, we are presenting a comprehensive overview of Ukrainian film history, spanning nearly a century, from the Soviet era to the present day. A portion of the proceeds from this series will be donated to victims of the war in Ukraine through the Maple Hope Foundation.

Antonio Lukich’s first feature film is a delightful comedy and road movie that explores demographic challenges in Ukraine while addressing the topic of immigration. Vadym, a freelance sound artist, wins an opportunity to collaborate with a Canadian video game company. Tasked with capturing the sounds of wildlife in Western Ukraine, Vadym needs the help of his energetic mother, who can shuttle him from site to site, to carry out the commission. Through the inevitable tensions in the mother-son relationship, My Thoughts Are Silent illustrates the longing shared by both of their generations to rebuild their lives in another place, outside tumultuous Ukraine.

Antonio Lukich
Antonio Lukich is an Ukrainian filmmaker. From 2011 to 2015, he studied at the Karpenko-Karyi Kyiv National University and received a bachelor's degree in directing. His graduation film, It Was Showering in Manchester, went on to win Best Short Film at the 2016 Odesa International Film Festival. He directed his debut feature film, My Thoughts Are Silent, in 2019, followed by Luxembourg, Luxembourg, in 2022. He was awarded the Merited Artist of Ukraine in 2021 after gaining many awards internationally.
