One Summer
L'Institut national de l'image et du son is celebrating its anniversary. On this occasion, our neighbor from the Maisonneuve - Saint-Denis block is joining us to present a selection of short films that have shaped the institution, while introducing a new generation of filmmakers whose flagship works will also be screened.

For more than 25 years, Marc Côté, street chaplain and parish priest, inherits a property in the Bas-du-Fleuve region and decides to take a group of homeless people with him, who, like himself, need a vacation. One Summer immerses us in a bright story... A story woven with laughter, silences and tears... A feel-good movie where the sun and the clouds blend together leaving the audience with a delicious taste of hope. Produced by Antonello Cozzolino.
Louise Archambault
Screenwriter and director Louise Archambault first gained recognition with her film Atomic Saké, which won several awards, including the Jutra for Best Short Film. Her feature debut, Familia, earned international acclaim, including at TIFF and the Genie Awards. Along with directing episodes of series like La galère, Nouvelle adresse, and This Life, she premiered her second feature, Gabrielle, at the Locarno Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award. As Canada’s official entry for the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes, the film won numerous international prizes and was sold in over 24 territories. Archambault later directed several seasons of the series Trop and Catastrophe, the latter of which won Best Scripted Format at Cannes. In 2019, she released two features: Il pleuvait des oiseaux, which premiered at TIFF and won several awards, including at the Canadian Screen Awards and the Gala Québec Cinéma, and Merci pour tout, released on Christmas Day. Both films were box-office hits, ranking 2nd and 3rd in Canada. Most recently, Archambault directed the WWII biopic Irena’s Vow (2023), shot in Poland, and Le temps d’un été (2023), filmed in the Bas-St-Laurent and Gaspésie regions.
