Pedro Maia is a Portuguese filmmaker based in Berlin. He works primarly with 16mm and 8mm film, exploring the boundaries between analog, digital, and live cinema. By manipulating raw film materials, he extends the limits and aesthetics of the analog medium, challenging the traditional process and continuously expanding the visual and technological heritage of classic film methods. His work has been showcased at renowned film festivals, institutions, and galleries. Maia has contributed to projects with Patti Smith, Soundwalk Collective, Danny Elfman, and Lucrecia Dalt, and has presented solo performances as well as collaborations with musicians such as Vessel, Shackleton, Holy Other, and many others. These works have been featured worldwide at leading festivals such as Sónar, Unsound, and MUTEK, among others, and in renowned places such as the Brooklyn Academy of Music and the Eye Film Museum.
