Film critic Gérard Grugeau passed away just a few months ago. We'll be showing a few films that were significant to this figure, who was well-known for championing emerging filmmakers and was beloved by fellow film writers.
In the presence of guests
Michka Saäl (Prisoners of Beckett) had a chance encounter with Spoon in an American prison. Spoon is serving a life sentence, but he is also a poet and activist writer. He and the filmmaker started discussions by mail and phone, building a world in suspension: between each other, between inside and outside, between poetry and brutal reality.

Michka Saäl
Born in Tunisia, Michka Saäl settled in Montreal during the 1980s, completing two film degrees. Between 1989 and 2017, she wrote and directed 13 films, both fiction and documentary, notably The Snail Position in 1998. She passed away in 2017 from an illness. She left two films in post-production and an unpublished collection of stories. These were released posthumously in the following years.
