To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Fantasia Festival, we present a film series in the image of this now-unmissable event: eclectic and exhilarating. These works, which have shaped the festival’s history over the years, reflect the variety of its programming – from cult classics to hidden gems, from masters of genre cinema to the audacious fringes of arthouse film, charting a fantastic journey across eras, styles, and cultures.

In 1994, three young filmmakers who were making a documentary about witchcraft mysteriously disappeared. A year later, the footage they had shot was recovered, and The Blair Witch Project pieced it together to document the horrific events they had experienced. To this day, the three filmmakers remain missing.
Daniel Myrick & Eduardo Sánchez
Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez are American film directors (the latter Cuban-born), most famous for horror films, especially for co-directing and writing the 1999 psychological horror The Blair Witch Project, winning the very first Independent Spirit John Cassavetes Award. They both separately continued their careers beyond the phenomenon of their debut film, but never reached the same level of success.
