The Mist
Cinema is a screen onto which we can project our fears, torments and the monstrosities of the world. The screen protects us from what we see, but cinema has also permanently anchored our nightmares around a few powerful images (empty houses, hostile attics and basements, demonic masks, bloodcurdling grimaces, disturbing postures). Throughout the summer, the Cinémathèque québécoise will be presenting a series of films encompassing more than one hundred and twenty years of horror, reminding us that what scares us most is to make the deepest of our fears tangible and credible.
A violent storm unleashes a species of bloodthirsty creatures on a small town, where a small group of citizens take refuge in a supermarket and fight for survival.
Frank Darabont
Ferenc Árpád Darabont, also known as Frank Darabont is a Hungarian-born American film director, screenwriter, producer, composer, musician and actor. He is best known for directing three feature films adapted from the works of Stephen King: The Shawshank Redemption (1994), The Green Mile (1999) and The Mist (2007). He was also behind the development of the TV series The Walking Dead and Mob City, and regularly works as a script doctor on film scripts.
