The Wailing
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Fantasia Festival, we present a film series in the image of this now-unmissable event: eclectic and exhilarating. These works, which have shaped the festival’s history over the years, reflect the variety of its programming – from cult classics to hidden gems, from masters of genre cinema to the audacious fringes of arthouse film, charting a fantastic journey across eras, styles, and cultures.
The films presented in September will be announced in August.

An old stranger appears in a peaceful rural village, but no one knows when or why. As mysterious rumors begin to spread about this man, the villagers drop dead one by one. They grotesquely kill each other for inexplicable reasons. The village is swept by turmoil and the stranger is subjected to suspicion.
Na Hong-jin
Na Hong-jin is a South Korean film director, producer and screenwriter. His filmography is characterized by the incorporation of violent thriller and horror elements. Na's emergence in the film industry began with his feature film debut, The Chaser (2008), which achieved both critical and commercial success, ranking as the third-highest-grossing film in South Korea for its release year. His subsequent film, The Yellow Sea (2010), was presented in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival. The Wailing (2016) further contributed to Na's critical and commercial standing, earning accolades in festivals. His latest film, Hope (2026), competed for the Palme d’or at the Cannes Film Festival.
