To the Ends of the World
From one year to the next, the Cinémathèque québécoise takes the pulse of recent and current French cinema, in partnership with the Institut français, in order to follow the evolution of an increasingly diversified French production.
Indochina, 1945. Robert Tassen, a young French soldier is the only survivor of a massacre where his brother perished before his eyes. Blinded by vengeance, Robert engages in a solitary and secret quest to find the assassins. But his meeting with Maï, a young Indochinese woman, will change his beliefs.

Guillaume Nicloux
Guillaume Nicloux is French filmmaker, screenwriter, and novelist. He directed his debut feature, Les enfants volants, in 1990. Written using the principle of automatic writing, the film was selected at the Berlin International Film Festival and TIFF. In 2002, he began a film noir trilogy, the first installments of which is Une affaire privée, starring Thierry Lhermitte and Marion Cotillard. Cette femme-là (2003) and La clef (2007) complete the triptych. In 2014, he directed L'enlèvement de Michel Houellebecq, which won Best Screenplay and the Special Jury Prize at the Tribeca Film Festival, as well as the Grand Prix Temps Ø at the Festival du nouveau cinéma. In 2017, he directed Les confins du monde starring Gaspard Ulliel, a film shot in Vietnam about the tragic fate of a young soldier.
