To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Fantasia Festival, we present a film series in the image of this now-unmissable event: eclectic and exhilarating. These works, which have shaped the festival’s history over the years, reflect the variety of its programming – from cult classics to hidden gems, from masters of genre cinema to the audacious fringes of arthouse film, charting a fantastic journey across eras, styles, and cultures.

A curse strikes Kurouzu, a normally peaceful Japanese village. Its residents become obsessed with anything shaped like a spiral, to the point of acting in completely bizarre ways, leading to the worst possible outcome.
Higuchinsky
Higuchinsky is a Ukrainian-born film director known for directing the 2000 film Uzumaki, an adaptation of the manga of the same name by Junji Ito. He also directed Long Dream, a 2000 television film adaptation of Nagai Yume, another story by Ito. Additionally, he directed the 2003 film Tokyo 10+01, and helmed an episode of a television series adaptation of the manga Eko Eko Azarak.
