Victoria Spick, a criminal defense attorney on the verge of an emotional breakdown goes to a wedding where she runs into her old friend Vincent and Sam, a one-time dealer she had successfully represented. The next day, Vincent is accused by his girlfriend of attempted murder. The only witness is the victim’s dog. Victoria reluctantly agrees to defend him, and at the same time hires Sam as her nanny. Her life is about to take a devastating turn.
Justine Triet
Justine Triet is a French director, screenwriter, and actress. Part of a new generation of women filmmakers, she started her career directing several documentaries, followed by the short film Two Ships, which was awarded at the 2012 Berlin International Film Festival. Two years later, her debut feature film, Age of Panic, screened in the ACID section at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, was a major critical success that established her on the French-speaking film scene and earned her a César Award nomination for Best First Film. This recognition continued with the comedy In Bed with Victoria (2016), which premiered at Critic's Week in Cannes and earned two César nominations, followed by Sibyl in 2019. Four years later, she achieved global success with her film Anatomy of a Fall, which won the Palme d'or at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. She thus became the third woman in the festival's history to receive this award, and the first French female director to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director. The film also won six César Awards, two Golden Globes, a Lumière Award, five European Film Awards, a Goya Award, and the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 2024.
