Agostino, a poor orphan, meets Armando, a traveling magician, in an old circus. Armando promises to help him find his family. Their search takes them to Rome, where they discover the hidden side of their era.
Vittorio Gassman
Vittorio Gassman was an Italian actor, stage director, filmmaker, screenwriter, author, and television host who worked in theater, film and television. Nicknamed “Il mattatore” (after the television show of the same name that he presented in 1959, as well as the 1960 film of the same name by Dino Risi, meaning "The Showman"), he is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most iconic Italian actors of all time. He is remembered for his professionalism (bordering on obsessive), his versatility, and his magnetism. With deep roots in socially engaged theatre, he was the co-founder and former director of the Teatro d'Arte Italiano. His long career in Italy and abroad includes important productions, as well as dozens of divertissements that have earned him widespread popularity. Alongside Marcello Mastroianni, Nino Manfredi, Alberto Sordi, Ugo Tognazzi, and Monica Vitti, he is considered one of the giants of Italian comedy.
